Sunflower Tam

The next couple of days are going to be a barrage of FOs that I've finally gotten around to taking pictures of. Today: a Sunflower Tam.

Sunflower Tam from Norah Gaughan's Knitting Nature
Malabrigo Worsted Merino in Azul Profundo
#9 Addi 16" circ

Modifications:

I thought the tam shape they gave in the book was goofy-looking, and besides being uninterested in looking like a medieval peasant, I have extremely strong feelings about purl turning rows. Instead, I cast on 96 stitches, knit the ribbing, then immediately increased to the required 128 stitches (k3, m1). Knit for about 4 inches, then started the mock cable design.

It grew a bit after blocking, so I threaded thin jewelry elastic through the ribbing to help keep it on.

I look like a total dork when I wear it, but it is very, very soft. Malabrigo is my new favorite yarn in the entire world.

I love this pattern, and it looks lovely in the malabrigo!
